Released on 04/10/2010
CSSA briefing on UKBA newsletter
Introduction
The UKBA recently released its September edition of its newsletter. There were two sections that were pertinent to the affairs of the cleaning industry. A summary of these articles have been presented below.
Charging for immigration, nationality and visa services for 2011
The UKBA recently announced plans to amend the cost of immigration services. They have laid out regulations to amend at/below cost fees for immigration services that will come into force in October. The UKBA intends to lay out further regulations to amend above cost fees for services before Parliament, when it is in session in October. Should the proposals receive Parliamentary approval they will be implemented in the following month in November. A table of the fee amendments (both those in effect and proposed) can be accessed from the following link
Guidance for employers in combating illegal working
The UKBA published its latest edition of its guidance document for employers in tackling illegal working. The document provides information on the employer’s responsibilities in curbing illegal working and outlines the list of documents, stamps and endorsements that a migrant worker may present as their right to work in the UK. The updated version contains information on the application of recent policy updates and as such provides new information on the employment of students, asylum seekers, refugees and those with humanitarian protection status. A copy of the guidance can be accessed by the following link
